Fergus has long been fascinated by humans and the spaces between them.
Shortly after leaving secondary school at the age of 18, Fergus joined Robert Bennett's Wellington- based company Mime International - and within 18 months he was performing in Prague, Moscow and Northern Poland, then London, Edinburgh and around the UK.
In a wild and varied career since 1984, Fergus has worked and played in over a dozen countries worldwide.
From the streets of London, Edinburgh, Dublin and Amsterdam, to arts festivals and events throughout Australasia and the Pacific Islands...
Fergus has hosted and headlined at many comedy clubs and showcases, and played at almost every type of festival. He has had standing ovations at nudist events, has hosted tattoo festivals, rock concerts, art auctions, speed dating sessions, international circus showcases, and The World Flower Show.
He has also played as a living mannequin, at several famous and iconic London sites, including Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, and in the shop window of Selfridges.
He has been guest juggler with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, created and performed various characters in the prestigious World of Wearable Art show, and has hosted many corporate events from awards dinners to product launches, client functions to murder mysteries.
Today Fergus is an actor, corporate presenter, stand-up comedian, character performer, juggler and clown, based in Wellington and traveling regularly around NZ and beyond.
Also recognised as a leading teacher of physical theatre and mime, Fergus delivers teaching programs for many levels of experience and ability.
Actor and performer training specialties include physical theatre, clown, mime, characters, improv and play. Currently Fergus is a core drama and movement tutor at the Whitireia Stage and Screen course, at Te Auaha in Wellington.
"Fergus is funny and engaged with the audience, passionate about making a connection, and excellent to work with as the public voice of the event".

“I have known and worked with Fergus Aitken for many years now and he is highly respected. He is a motivated energetic man who has much to offer and is seen entertaining the public regularly. Fergus is supportive and has a great rapport with people of different ages. He is often found entertaining the community at a range of events and there is never a dull moment in his vibrant performances. He is highly skilled and has a wonderful attitude to life in general. Fergus is also giving of his time and talents in a teaching capacity- be it mime, acting or comedy so this willingness to help others in the industry or students is very genuine. I have used him on many occasions at tertiary level and he is also brilliant with younger children. Fergus has a wonderful way of bringing out the best in people and has the passion to inspire, as well as make all sorts of people laugh! To laugh is so very important for us all, to survive life as we know it…”
